Referring Attorneys

O’Neal & Brown built its practice and reputation handling referrals from other lawyers. Over the years we have developed long-term relationships with many law firms throughout the state of Georgia and the Southeast. When a personal injury, products liability, trucking, railroad or nursing home case falls outside of your firm’s area of expertise, we welcome the opportunity to serve both you and your client and develop a mutually beneficial long-term relationship. As O’Neal & Brown practices exclusively in the area of serious personal injury and wrongful death, we often need to refer other types of cases to attorneys who practice in those other areas of law.

Since we recognize the importance of building long-term relationships, O’Neal & Brown believes it is important to make sure referring attorneys receive their fair share of any fee we recover. O’Neal & Brown prefers a more equitable fee sharing agreement than is customary. We make sure referring attorneys receive a fair share of any fee we earn, and we ensure all fee sharing agreements comply fully with Georgia’s Rules of Professional Conduct.

As the referring attorney, you can remain as involved in the case as you like. Some lawyers prefer to become equal partners in the litigation, sharing in both the work and expenses. Others prefer little or no involvement once the case is underway. These arrangements are handled on a case-by-case basis, which gives us maximum flexibility in creating agreements that satisfy everyone involved.
